Pupils and parents testimonials
Niamh - ' I have been having drum lessons with Andy for over 2 years. To start with, Andy was teaching my brother how to play the drums and I would sit in on the lessons. The way Andy taught my brother inspired me and made me want to learn how to play the drums myself and the rest is history.... Andy is a brilliant teacher. He has lots of patience. He explains things really well and breaks them down so I can learn them step by step. I really enjoy drumming and am passionate about music as a result of Andy's teaching.'
Cary (Niamhs mum) - 'Andy has taught both my daughter (11) and my son (6) to play the drums. He adapts his lessons well, making them age and ability appropriate. Andy has built up a good rapport with both of my children and clearly enjoys what he does. We have been having lessons with Andy for over 2 years, throughout that time he has been reliable and consistent. I would highly recommend Andy as a drum teacher, without hesitation.'

Nicole - 'Learning to drum with Andy has been one of the best things I've ever done. I'd always had a hankering to play the drums and, two years ago, I finally decided to take the plunge and have lessons. Andy got me up and running in no time – starting with a solid foundation in the basics, then progressing swiftly to playing trickier beats and fills. I'm still amazed that I can play some of the things that I now can, but Andy always finds a way to break things down and work through step by step until it clicks. My eight year old son has also been learning with Andy, and it's been amazing to see Andy's professional, positive approach turn my shy little boy into a confident musician. I can’t recommend Andy highly enough; whether complete beginner or more advanced drummer, his experience, knowledge and infectious love of drumming will get you where you want to be.'
Wilfred - When I retired from full time working, I had no hobbies or interests, but promised myself to at least challenge myself to learning 1 new subject per year - the first was to try & play the drums ! With Andy's help and the basis of "rudiments", and other learning material - my time with Andrew gave me a great insight into the techniques & enjoyments of drumming. Not one minute was ever wasted in my time in attending classes with him. Andy is a great teacher, and with the rare combination of patience and experience. If i found difficulty in learning a passage of music, Andy would suggest an alternative method - and this usually worked ! Not only did i progress, it was also very enjoyable. Believe me - Yorkshire's loss is the West Country's gain !!
Will - 'Andy is kind and understanding. He makes things easy for you by guiding you through how to play the drums.'
Rachael - 'Andy puts you at ease straight away and has a simple effective way of explaining drum techniques.'
Emma (Will and Rachael's mum) - 'Both my children have always enjoyed their drum lessons with Andy, he is very dedicated and reliable. He gave up his free time to attend their exams and when the examiner was running late he stayed and helped my son practice for an hour which was way above and beyond the call of duty.'

Sam (Max's mum) - 'Max thoroughly enjoyed each lesson with Andy. He liked the variety of what Andy did and being able to pick the music he did for his exams. From my point of view, I appreciated the fact that Andy was always on time and never cancelled a lesson in advance or simply failed to turn up for a lesson. Andy also gave Max confidence in his ability to play and particularly improvise.'
Austin Clavane - 'Looking for a quality, friendly and professional drum teacher? Look no further. Andrew taught me for around 5 years and got me my grade 8 when I was 15. (He was 16 when he got his grade 8 so technically I beat him hehe). Andrew not only teaches you the technique and important skills you need to know to be a great drummer, but does it in a fun and interesting way. He always includes new and enjoyable activities in every lesson. If you are into funk and jazz or heavy metal and punk, Andrew will have the skills and materials you need to know and have in order to master those styles. Andy is also a sound guy. Never have I ever not had a lesson where we had a laugh and spoke about music we both enjoy. I highly recommend Andrew Clayton as he is super professional, a master of all styles and an enthusiast at what he does.'
