ANDREW CLAYTON B.A.
I am a Drum Kit and Tuned Percussion player and teacher based in Cockwood near Exeter. I have taught privately and in state and private schools for over 10 years.
My musical journey began with Piano lessons at the age of eight, but I was soon to develop an interest in drumming that was to lead to my decision to take up the sticks, at the age of eleven, as my main instrument.
I achieved Grade 8 on Drum Kit with the Guildhall School of Music in 1998, and Grade 8 on Tuned Percussion with The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in 1999. I continued to develop my playing and performing skills whilst studying Music and Music Technology at university.
My drumming experience includes performing in rock, metal, funk, function, pop, brass and jazz bands and I regularly undertake studio and session work. I have had the opportunity to travel widely throughout the UK and internationally.
It was whilst studying music at Sixth Form College that I began teaching drums to fellow pupils and, finding it was something I really enjoyed, I have continued to teach ever since.
I also began to play acoustic guitar and bass guitar from the age of thirteen and I still play the piano.
